Marouane Fellaini has handed Belgium an injury scare just two days before their UEFA EURO 2016 qualifier against Wales in Cardiff. It is understood the Manchester United forward suffered a groin injury as the Belgium squad trained at Anderlecht's Constant Vanden Stock Stadium.
Belgium coach Wilmots confirmed Fellaini would miss the Cardiff game in a tweet on the official Belgian FA account on Wednesday afternoon."He is not ready for selection for #walbel (Wales v Belgium) and leaves the squad for further rehabilitation," Wilmots said on the BelgianRedDevils account.Belgium, who are second in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, have plenty of depth to their squad but the loss of Fellaini would still come as a huge blow to the Red Devils.
The powerful 27-year-old has scored eight goals in his last 13 games for club and country and was on target twice in Belgium's 4-3 friendly victory against France in Paris on Sunday night.Belgium lead the way in Group B at the halfway stage of the EURO 2016 qualifying campaign but only on goal difference with Wales in second place.
